I've driven by this historical Pacific Heights Mansion many times in San Francisco. I admire that it's maintained its original look on the outside. Unfortunately, the same could be said about the inside. Look at those living room pink drapes, with those folds, tucks and ruffles! Thelma Harper turned Iola Boylan's frock into curtains!

Richard Burton from HBO's The Wire is in hot water. Not literally, but figuratively! He refused to pay $1k in water bills b/c he suspects it is too high. Well, now a lien has been placed on his Baltimore home & he faces foreclosure. What!? $1k must be a drop in the bucket for a star like him, right?!

Not much of a foundation eh?

how adorable! The house ain't bad either. LOL!

When it is on a bigger lot, it don't look 1/2 bad!

Watch out, that's how Kim Zolciak Got in Trouble! Her "lease to own" fell apart when the house appraised for $1M less!

On the hit show Shark Tank, Bill Lyons wanted "$250,000 in potential funding for Revestor, a service that he dreamed up to help potential real estate investors find the best property deals. It’s like a Zillow or Trulia for investors, Lyons said."  I knew it wouldn't get green-lit. How do you define what is a "good deal"? Too many variables! What do you think?

Surely, you''ve seen the dozen or so films inspired by the Amityville haunted house (the latest of which was Ryan Reynolds' in 2005. It was NOT a scary film. How can you focus on the horror when Ryan is 1/2 half naked during the movie!?LOL). Anyhoo, I didn't know that "Even after their tales of terror became an international blockbuster, many accused the family of making up the story to get out of hefty mortgage payments" .

We've always joked that pulling in 6 digits isn't saying much in San Francisco. With the  high cost of living, it's like living a step about the poverty line. Well, I guess it's no joke. "National Assoc of Realtors is out w/ a report showing the qualifying income needed to buy a single family home in San Jose is currently $115,000 w/ 10% downpayment"...and that is San Jose, not even San Francisco!!

Madonna purchased this 6000 sq ft unit overlooking Central Park in the late 1980's during her rocky marriage to Sean Penn. Her brother Christopher Ciccone, who recently wrote an expose about her, was the decorator (that explain the lavendar.). Look, we don't wanna be mean, but this house ain't no Ray of Light!

SF Chronicle reports on the effort by Oakland to fold Piedmont back into its clutches (gasp!). Piedmont used to be part of Oakland a century ago, but they annexed themselves out...and ain't no way in hell they are going back to Oakland. Is it sour grapes for Oakland or does Piedmont reek of NIMBY-ism? Probably a little of both.
Piedmont has been the way it is now for 105 years: a wealthy, family-oriented community surrounded by Oakland. It's believed to be the only city in the United States to be located completely within another city. Some refer to it as the Doughnut Hole, or the Vatican City of the East Bay...."Piedmont was an enclave of wealthy people who wanted to divorce themselves from the madness of 1906 Oakland," said East Bay historian and author Dennis Evanosky. "They looked at the traffic, the crime, the people and said, 'You know, let's not be a part of that.' "
