I've blogged repeated about my anti-McMansion sentiments. (I'm pro small space living) And here's empirical proof that McMansions are indeed going the way of the dinosaurs, from Trulia and The Atlantic. It's not just the economy, it's also cultural values shifting. People increasingly are downsizing by choice. Paring down to live simpler lives. The cost of utilities to support a McMansion are sky high! Plus, landscaping & maintenance will kill you! Not to mention you'll spend a fortune on gas driving out to the vapid house in the boonies. Your social life is another casualty of McMansion living. You think you have this fabulous palatial space to entertain, but none of your city friends make the trek out to visit.

What do you think? Can we retire the McMansion? Or will it make a comeback?

I couldn't have said this better myself! Grahma Hill's talk for Ted.com really sums up the way I'm trying to lead my life. Pare everything down. There was a time when I bought recklessly and for the wrong reasons...but really, all that did was increase my bills and make me unhappy.  How many $150 T-shirts does a guy really need?!  After all, a cotton T is a cotton T! As long as I look like a million bucks in it, who cares if it's H&M or GUCCI.   So,  I do my best to live sparsely, be efficient and nimble.

Not to sound like some Pinko, but the way we are living our lives for the last few decades is going to be the end of us. More debt & more stress.  What is the point of endless accumulation of useless stuff & the constant commericial consumption. Even in real estate, the idea you have to keep trading up to bigger and better house every few years is just not sustainable.

I'm not saying you all can live in the 420 sq ft pad  featured in the video (although I would love to! so cool) but let's edit down our lives, our space or consumption.  You'll be so much at peace...Trust me, I've been there!

If you follow my blog, you know I've blogged many times about the small space movement. I've even written some published pieces about this. What can I say, I'm anti-McMansion!  Anyhow (or should I say any-ehow), eHow.com asked me to do a video about how to decorate a tiny weensie apartment, so here it is!

If you have any photos of videos of your bite sized abode, please share! I'd love to feature it on Habitat For Hermanity.

It is no secret I am no fan of McMansions (Seriously, who needs 8 bedrooms 8 bathrooms, unless you are running a brothel!?) As a big fan of small spaces, I've blogged several times about living small here at Habitat For Hermanity, as well as penning articles for Chic Tip & Frontiers Magazine.  But when I came across this NYC architect who lives in a 78 sq ft apartment, I couldn't believe my eyes! I've seen coffins bigger than this place! It's like living in a dorm room the size of a walk-in closet.

Alas, he pays a mere $800/mo for rent.  Can you blame the guy? Where else can you live in the Big Apple for that little? Kudos to you Luke Clark Tyler! I know I couldn't do it.

Claustrophobes need not apply, but would any of you ever live in 78 sq ft? If  you have, please share pix!

Size isn't everything! Read why length and girth don't matter in my article for Frontiers Magazine called "Love Your Small Unit".  It's not what you think, you perverts. It's my  tongue in cheek tips on how to maximize a small living space!

I personally love my cozy abodes. For someone like myself who has no kids, no partner, no pets and no plants, all I really need is a bed & internet connection and I'm happy as a clam. Anyone else feel the same? Or you feel bigger is better?
