Admit it, everyone has checked out their home's value (or your ex-spouse's house, if you are nosy like me)  on real estate valuation sites like Zillow.com. But is it a good substitute for  a real  appraisal?  Hmmmm....

Its nearly impossible to find on their website, but Zillow does publish the margin of error for each County:

http://www.zillow.com/howto/DataCoverageZestimateAccuracyCA.htm

Just replace the CA (before .htm) with the state abbreviation of your choice.

wow! that is a great tidbit of info! the margin of errors are mostly in the double digits....oye, but this certainly helps throw some light on data! thanks ben!
