Now finally, according to a new study, the attractiveness of your real estate agent does affect how well your property sells! Duh! People judge me all the time by the way I look..not always to my benefit. The study has some ineresstin findings about race & gender. Homes sell for more when agents are female &/or white. But, hey, can't let that get us down. We gotta do the best with what we've got! |

 Boo! Is a renter entitled to their deposit back if the house is haunted? This New Jersey couple thinks so! After moving in for 1 week, they witnessed "paranormal activity at the house, including lights that switch on and off by themselves, clothes and towels mysteriously ejected from closets, unintelligible whispering, footsteps in the kitchen and a mysterious force tugging at bedsheets during the night." They are suing to get back their $2,250 security deposit. IMHO, it was never noted that it was "haunted" before so they will have a tough time proving this was not just buyers' remorse. Not only that, but who is to say the renters weren't the ones who brought the ghost in the 1st place!
 NIMBY strikes again. If it happened to George Lucas, of course if could happen to TLC. A multi-million dollar expansive waterfront property located in The Cove neighborhood of Florida is being converted to a halfway house for recovering alcohol & drug addicts! The affluent community is up in arms! Should the neighbors be more open minded or do they have a right to be upset?
What is your take on NIMBY?  When I was living in downtown LA, there were so many things to do but so little time. Let's face it. People don't move to Tinsel Town to settle down. No, they move there to make it! I focused so much on my career that I neglected my home. What a shame. It was a fabulous top floor corner studio apartment with glazed concrete floors & 180 degree skyline views of downtown LA. Why oh why didn't I decorate it?! I was too busy hustling! (Mom says my career didn't take off because I didn't feng-shui my apartment! Now she tells me!). Honestly, if I had known about Apt2B, I would have decked out my pad from the get-go and become a mega-star. Don't make the same mistake as me!  With the space tourism business taking off (literally & figuratively), it seems humans just can't resist imperial colonization efforts! It appears a legal loophole may allow countries to stake their claim on acreage...on the moon! The ultimate pied-à-terre, eh?
You can bet on 1 thing: Where there are extraterrestial property owners, there will be extraterrestrial realtors!  Apparently, the Home Owners Association where shooting happened endorsed Zimmerman in their newsletter as the go-to person for any crime issues in the community. If they are liable, that may mean the attorneys could go after Twin Lake HOA's insurance policy & assets. Do you think the HOA is responsible?
 IKEA is constructing a neighborhood in East London that consists of 1200 rental units & 480,000 sq ft of commercial & creative space. It will be free of cars, IKEA stores & Swedish meatballs. Leave it to IKEA to take on urban planning. It's just a matter of time before they colonize Mars! More big companies should get involved in blighted communities. Go IKEA!
 Us little peons wouldn't know much about such decadent extravagances, but apparently luxury home owners are building elaborate basements under their property. Why, you ask? To bypass development restrictions that limit home sizes above ground (so sneaky!). And to avoid gaudy McMansion accusations from Occupy Movement & jealous neighbors!

As bougie as they are, the fact remains "the 2 happiest moments in a boat owner's life are the day he buys the boat & the day that he sells it." Houseboats can be a money pit!  Dang, they not only ugly on inside, but outside too! Hong Kong is a tiny territory of China renowned as a financial mecca. Famous for its laissez-faire attitude toward capitalism, it's home to many jillionaires...and lots of hardworking regular peeps too. The disparity between the rich & poor is staggering...especially when it comes to housing. The rich developers are in bed with the government, who own massive pieces of land. Do they develop new housing for the masses? No! They sit on it. They manipulate the real estate market by limiting the amount of land/building available to Hong Kong citizens.
"The growing rich-poor gap has fueled public anger & fears that property developers have too much influence on the government, which controls all the land in the compact, densely populated city." It's about time this top senior gov't official & 2 billionaire brothers (Raymond & Thomas Kwok) who run Hong Kong's biggest property developer were arrested for suspected corruption!
