I feel so exonerated! I've claimed for years that Curb Appeal = Sex Appeal. In fact my 1st videoblog in 2010 addressed this! Now finally, according to a new study, the attractiveness of your real estate agent does affect how well your property sells! Duh! People judge me all the time by the way I look..not always to my benefit. The study has some ineresstin findings about race & gender. Homes sell for more when agents are female &/or white. But, hey, can't let that get us down. We gotta do the best with what we've got!
Boo! Is a renter entitled to their deposit back if the house is haunted? This New Jersey couple thinks so! After moving in for 1 week, they witnessed "paranormal activity at the house, including lights that switch on and off by themselves, clothes and towels mysteriously ejected from closets, unintelligible whispering, footsteps in the kitchen and a mysterious force tugging at bedsheets during the night." They are suing to get back their $2,250 security deposit. IMHO, it was never noted that it was "haunted" before so they will have a tough time proving this was not just buyers' remorse. Not only that, but who is to say the renters weren't the ones who brought the ghost in the 1st place!
NIMBY strikes again. If it happened to George Lucas, of course if could happen to TLC. A multi-million dollar expansive waterfront property located in The Cove neighborhood of Florida is being converted to a halfway house for recovering alcohol & drug addicts! The affluent community is up in arms! Should the neighbors be more open minded or do they have a right to be upset?
What is your take on NIMBY?
When I was living in downtown LA, there were so many things to do but so little time. Let's face it. People don't move to Tinsel Town to settle down. No, they move there to make it! I focused so much on my career that I neglected my home. What a shame. It was a fabulous top floor corner studio apartment with glazed concrete floors & 180 degree skyline views of downtown LA. Why oh why didn't I decorate it?! I was too busy hustling! (Mom says my career didn't take off because I didn't feng-shui my apartment! Now she tells me!). Honestly, if I had known about Apt2B, I would have decked out my pad from the get-go and become a mega-star. Don't make the same mistake as me!
You see, thru Apt2B you can literally furnish your entire home, from floor to ceiling, without ever stepping into a big-box furniture store (clutch my pearls!). It's easy breezy cover girl. Affordable & convenient & best of all chic. Urban dweller aesthetic! (Isn't it dreadful when people visit your place and say, "Say, we have the same coffee table. IKEA clearance, right?" No more of that!)
I love how they put rooms together for you. I don't have to think, much less hire a pricey designer, fight traffic, driving to & fro different stores, yadda yadda. It's all done for me! Check out the Bachelor Pad ensemble on the right. Gorgeous! Try their Complete Room Packages! I can just click, click, click and my pad will be furnished with those pieces! God, I wish I knew about them earlier.

World Journal interviewed me again but this time it is about the recent mass murder in a San Francisco quiet neighborhood that has shocked the region. This article focused on the housing angle.

33 year old is a real estate expert that frequently appears o Money, realtor and HGTV shows. He says, asians are more superstitious, but lots of mainstream people don't care. some people use the opportunity to buy. Some demolish the building, or rent it out for a few years, wait till the market goes back up.
He says " I once has a building, male owner hung himself. A couple came to see, wife says she can't live here, husband says he doesn't mind and wants to buy. After long arguments, husband listened to his wife of course. But this shows some people really care, and some don't mind at all"
He explains, California law requires owner to disclose death in the building within 3 years, no matter if it's homicide or natural death. But he says "even if it's over 3 years, we try to let the seller know, the more details you disclose, the less legal battle you get into later"
He says, one year ago there's a research that shows, for psychologically impacted houses, the average price goes down 5 to 10%. But for places with large media exposure, and selling it now will be 20% below market. But SF is hard to find a place, price will come back up after several years.
He says, California law doesn't restrict selling the house for a duration after someone's death. Every death case is different, and house price may not be affected at all. But during an investigation, lawyers and police needs to enter the house, the house can't be sold, and may take up to a year or more.
BORÉAL is a Glass-Clad Greenhouse Housing Project in France. It will be a commune for exhibitionists! This would be cool if your neighbor was a hottie. Constant eye candy...but if he a troll, hmmm not so cool. Et moi, j'adore le soleil, but you'd have to wear sunscreen 24/7 inside! Merde!
Nasty snooty neighbors submarine George Lucas' plans to build movie studio in Marin County. After investing millions for many years, LucasFilms abruptly canned their plans. Most residents, county officials & businesses looked forward to a boom in economy & jobs, but a few NIMBY neighbors bitterly revolted. So George said, this ain't worth it! But George's empire will strike back. He's selling the land to low income housing developer! These snobs are gonna flip out!
With the space tourism business taking off (literally & figuratively), it seems humans just can't resist imperial colonization efforts! It appears a legal loophole may allow countries to stake their claim on acreage...on the moon! The ultimate pied-à-terre, eh?
You can bet on 1 thing: Where there are extraterrestial property owners, there will be extraterrestrial realtors!
Help a fella out! Curbed & SFist spotlight this Craiglist ad whose poster need a space to park his mini-home. It would really help if he posted a pic of himself too! I'm just sayin'!
Apparently, the Home Owners Association where shooting happened endorsed Zimmerman in their newsletter as the go-to person for any crime issues in the community. If they are liable, that may mean the attorneys could go after Twin Lake HOA's insurance policy & assets. Do you think the HOA is responsible?
IKEA is constructing a neighborhood in East London that consists of 1200 rental units & 480,000 sq ft of commercial & creative space. It will be free of cars, IKEA stores & Swedish meatballs. Leave it to IKEA to take on urban planning. It's just a matter of time before they colonize Mars! More big companies should get involved in blighted communities. Go IKEA!
Us little peons wouldn't know much about such decadent extravagances, but apparently luxury home owners are building elaborate basements under their property. Why, you ask? To bypass development restrictions that limit home sizes above ground (so sneaky!). And to avoid gaudy McMansion accusations from Occupy Movement & jealous neighbors!
Kinda neat! Yahoo Real Estate spotlights fantastical dreamboats from around the world. As bougie as they are, the fact remains "the 2 happiest moments in a boat owner's life are the day he buys the boat & the day that he sells it." Houseboats can be a money pit! You'd need a dramamine when you get the repair bills!
look that mug...GUILTY!!
Aye carumba! This sneaky snake used religion to lure his Spanish radio listeners into mortgage schemes that totaled over $2M. As a San Francisco pastor & former real estate agent, he offered to help embattled homeowners but in reality put his name on their title or refinanced their house and cashed out! Disgusting! As Maude would say, God'll get you for that!
Aquaria Grande is a 37 story apartment complex in Mumbai, India that offers pools on their balconies
Not to be rude, but, um, aren't these just glorified bathtubs? They aren't big enough to swim laps. No lifeguard eye candy. And how can anyone buy you a drink & ask you out when you're all alone? Half the fun of going to a pool is turning heads in your hot speedo! On the bright side, it would make a great koi pond!
It's baseball season (like I know the difference!). Well for those of you who do, Zillow.com rounds up the top homes of the richest baseball players around the nation including womanizing Derek Jeter & underground poker ring player Alex Rodriguez.
Batter up! (did I say that right?)

Look at this NYC Celeb Rental Map by Rentannae & compare what you would pay in rent with what these stars fork over each month! They oughta do one for each big city!...with all that dough fattening some landlord's wallet, you'd think these celebs would buy!
Dang, they not only ugly on inside, but outside too!
Hong Kong is a tiny territory of China renowned as a financial mecca. Famous for its laissez-faire attitude toward capitalism, it's home to many jillionaires...and lots of hardworking regular peeps too. The disparity between the rich & poor is staggering...especially when it comes to housing. The rich developers are in bed with the government, who own massive pieces of land. Do they develop new housing for the masses? No! They sit on it. They manipulate the real estate market by limiting the amount of land/building available to Hong Kong citizens.
"The growing rich-poor gap has fueled public anger & fears that property developers have too much influence on the government, which controls all the land in the compact, densely populated city." It's about time this top senior gov't official & 2 billionaire brothers (Raymond & Thomas Kwok) who run Hong Kong's biggest property developer were arrested for suspected corruption!
