Check out the pics for this house in Los Angeles for sale! It's filled with menz. Is that a new staging trick? Honestly, it looks like the first 30 seconds of a gay porno...but I guess it worked! Cause the same day it was listed for $1,795,000, it sold for $1.8M. Can't wait to try out this new technique on my next listing!

![]() I just got some amazing press for my cute Bungalow for sale on 804-57th St, NOBE. HGTV's Front Door interviews me about how I transformed this plain jane property into a gem with just some quick and easy tips. I teamed up with my fabulous stager Cora Sue Anthony, Star of Real Estate Intervention to work our magic! She is the only one who has a bigger personality than me. LOL! Excerpt is below. Or read the full article. But you MUST check out the dramatical before and after photos! For this home, he and Cora brightened the walls. "Gray is very hot now, so is off-white: it brightened the space." The previous owners had used different colors throughout, which "compartmentalized everything," says Chan. "When you have too many blocks of color, it's like a dress with horizontal stripes. It does a small space no favors." Beyonce announced her world tour at the SuperBowl. Herman Chan announces his new web series Real Estate Real Simple for the San Francisco Chronicle...Okay, so it ain't exactly comparable, but hey, I can dream right? The series is Q&A sessions with readers from the SF Chronicle about housing and design. The webisode below is about decorating a living room with small mirrors. (I love the video introduction they made for me. Fancy!)
![]() via www.corcoran.com Oprah has hoisted her hefty NY penthouse on the market for a cool $7.9M clams. Interestingly enough, the 2,530 sq ft condo is completely empty. Not a single piece of decor in sight! Hey with the most powerful showbiz woman in the world as the owner, who needs staging? Her name sells it! (and the amazing views don't hurt either) ![]() Paula Abdul lists her LA home for $1.9M. And it's surprisingly un-Paula. No sign of wacky! Maybe she IS a normal gal at home... I've heard of de-personalizing a listing but geez, her house has been totally sterilized. I was kinda hoping to see some wacky decor that is so indicative of our beloved Paula. I guess her mismatched frilly over-accessorized fashion sense didn't spill over to her house. Dirty darn it! Good luck with the sale, Forever Your Girl! ![]() Direct Shopping Network TV Hosts Brook Roberts & Tara Gray have launched a new magazine called Show Stopper! With already over 300,000 subscribers, I'm so flattered my friend Tara (former Miss Alabama!) asked me to pen a column about home & design. See page 14-15 here. Got a question for me? Post in comments & it just might be next month's topic! ![]() Last week I dropped in on a friend who closed escrow over a year ago. It was a fabulous property & I couldn't wait to see how she decorated it. I walked in...and it looked the same. Whomp, Whomp! I said, "Girl, what happened to all those design plans you fantasized about!? Didn't you TIVO like 800 hours of ColorSplash!?" She had no time, no money & no idea where to start. What a shame! But I see this all the time. Folks spend thousands a month on house payments but don't do a darn thing to make it nice. So, eHow asked me to share some quick tips on how to find a designer to help you dress up the biggest purchase of your life! And it won't cost you an arm & a leg either. How to Find a Room Designer -- powered by ehow Renowned Fashion Photographer Billy Winters gives Habitat For Hermanity an unprecendented yet candid chat about decorating his fabulous Russian Hill home! In this sweeping interview, my dear friend Billy reveals to us his tips on lighting a room, mixing & matching patterns & how the photography business has changed. He and I also take a walk down memory lane (Billy is responsible for my 1st magazine cover almost a decade ago!). Celebrities, models & politicians have hired Billy for his artistic eye. And now you get to hear first hand what this tastemaker has to say about home decor! ![]() HERMAN: You've shot for countless fashion magazines around the globe in the most stunning locations with the most beautiful models. It's glamour 24/7. Yet, whenever I am over at your home, it feels surprisingly down-to-earth and homey. Why did you decide on this comfy vibe for your abode? BILLY: People say that for some reason my home reminds them of a North African Casbah or a Parisian atelier. I guess having Oriental throw rugs throughout (on top of the neutral carpeting that came with the apartment) adds to the "warmth" and feeling. The apartment has a lot of odd nooks and crannies too, making it (I guess) suprising to many. When I first saw this apartment, it was all white. They "sprayed" the entire place with flat white paint, even all the woodwork. I was not impressed. Without asking permission to paint (I never did) I started my journey. I had to paint all the trim, doors and windows in a semi-gloss off-white to cover a dull flat white throughout. The semi-gloss gives the rooms more dimension due to its shine, and makes the rooms look larger. Of course, it's also easier to clean! "When I first saw this apartment, it was all white... |
