Judge Judy Slams Tenants Who Game the System for Free Rent by Filing False Reports about Landlord11/27/2013
As I mentioned a few months ago, I got my fabulous buyers a free renovation on a new HGTV show called Power Brokers. It stars Mike Aubrey (Real Estate Intervention) & Juan Barbieri (The Bachelorette). It finally aired tonight. Hope you enjoyed my little appearance! The star of Bravo TV's Million Dollar Listing NY is facing an investigation by the Dept of Real Estate. He had the gall to photoshop his listing to the point it was unrecognizable. Suspicious!!! Radar Online: News flash: a "little white lie didn't kill anybody", but it certainly gives the rest of us realtors a bad name! Thanks a heap! Luis kinda sorta maybe not really apologized on Bravo TV's blog....Do you accept his apology?
![]() US News & World Report interviews me about real estate reality TV. Some peeps question the veracity of these shows, but speaking as someone who is a viewer and participant, I say "This is HGTV, not PBS!" Die-hard fans of reality TV scour the internet, post on fan forums, read the blogs, we all know these shows are "produced." There is nothing wrong with that! People tune in to be entertained. Reality TV has been around for over a decade. We know no one buys a house in 25 minutes, just like we know Rachel Ray can't bake a souffle in a 5 min segment! Everyone knows how these shows are "made for TV". So what? You take the viewers on a journey and at the end they learn a bit about real estate....and that, folks, is why the question of reality TV being fact or fiction is besides the point! Read the full article here: "The good thing is that you see the pros and cons of the house that they end up buying," Chan says. "They film them talking about the trade-offs. Those are very real conversations that people have. Usually by the end of the show, someone makes a compromise because there's no perfect house." Herman Asks Stars of Million Dollar Listing NY on HuffPostLive: ARE WE HEADING INTO A BUBBLE?!5/8/2013
Latest episode "Career Day" of Modern Family parodied realtors (again!)...So funny! But it ain't that far from the truth! I know colleagues just like that. For realz. "Everything I Touch Turns to SOLD" "Real estate's about putting the right person into the right house. I put a spanish couple into a spanish house" LOL! You Won't Believe Just How Phony Million Dollar Listing Is! New York Times Blows Lid Off Show!5/2/2013
I got my fabulous buyers a free renovation on a new HGTV show called Power Brokers. It stars Mike Aubrey (Real Estate Intervention) & Juan Barbieri (The Bachelorette). I have a small appearance too in the pilot, so stay tuned for more details! No budget for staging? No prob. Just raid your closet! Fantabulous segment on Good Day Sacramento! I show TV host Julissa Ortiz how to make a darling pillow case from a knit mini-skirt! Upcycling is the hottest design trend! All you need is 1 yard of sticky back velcro, a pillow insert & any old miniskirt (or poncho , for you hefty girls). (Thank you to my designer BFF Rosalia for her help. Check out her new design site Rosaliart.net)
With the market sizzling, CBS has me on this morning to talk real estate in San Francisco Hermanity-style. Enjoy!
On the hit show Shark Tank, Bill Lyons wanted "$250,000 in potential funding for Revestor, a service that he dreamed up to help potential real estate investors find the best property deals. It’s like a Zillow or Trulia for investors, Lyons said." I knew it wouldn't get green-lit. How do you define what is a "good deal"? Too many variables! What do you think?
On the eve of the 2nd presidential debate, Huffington Post Live asked me to weigh in on my prediction for Obama, why Mitt Romney pulled out of appearance on The View, and anti-bulling!
"Huffington Post Live" kicks off its Video Broadcast format. I think it's cool & hip, where talking heads are beamed in through their webcams, Google+ hangouts, skype. It's very now! (Who needs a TV studio anymore!) But what is interesting to me is that they launched HuffPost Live with a very specific real estate topic of all things (and of all people actor John Cusack?) called eminent domain. Clearly, housing is a hot subject! They are just getting started but I think the medium of live blogging is supposed to be more engaging. I don't think their discussion was very balanced. They should have taken some questions from tweets and viewers too. Oh, and a strong opposing point of view would have been nice too! FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a contributor to Huffington Post
![]() A few times a year another House Hunters expose surfaces. It's the same complaint; it's staged, it's phony, it's scripted. (But honey, 70%-80% of reality TV is fake! Just ask the Bachelor creator!) For some reason this latest complaint first seen on Hooked on Houses got picked up by lots of media outlets. This is gettin' old, folks! Let's revisit my prior post from Jan 29, 2012: So Tired of These "Is House Hunters Real or Fake" Articles! It's HGTV, Not PBS! ![]() "grab collar" pose! classy! My friend Scott Schang thinks Supernatural on the CW Network made a few jabs at real estate agents on their episode last week. Bottom left clip is a snippet example. Jab or not, it is so true! It's practically a cliché to have a headshot that's 15 yrs old! As I have videoblogged before, from a consumer stand point, an "outdated headshot = outdated agent"! BTW, if you seen any other media representations of realtors, please forward! |
