I started Habitat For Hermanity as a videoblog years ago, so I love sharing how video is not only a great brand builder for agents but it's what consumers expect now! 73% of consumers say they prefer agents who use video. Shocker: Only 1 in 10 agents have a youtube account!
How To Videoblog & Build Your Online Brand...Like Hermanity (Better Homes & Garden Interview)9/6/2013
To inaugurate the release of the Great Gatsby, here is my Art Deco How-To video for my San Francisco Chronicle Series called Real Estate Real Simple. Art Deco is one of my all time eras in design, the decadence the glitz and glamour! The Great Gatsy is also one of my favorite books (the capitalist commentary, haves and the have-nots, the laissez-faire!). The newly released Great Gatsby film, starring Leo Dicaprio & Tobey Maguire, is a visual homage to this fabulous period of art and design. Folks, I could watch the film with the sound off! I was visually drowning in all the details, costumes, architecture. Wow! My only disappointment was that the film left out the homoeroticism between Nick Carraway and Gatsby (I recall that gay undertones too when I read it in high school...I thought it was hormones, but maybe not...at least per Salon Magazine) Demand Media Video -- powered by http://www.sfgate.com I got my fabulous buyers a free renovation on a new HGTV show called Power Brokers. It stars Mike Aubrey (Real Estate Intervention) & Juan Barbieri (The Bachelorette). I have a small appearance too in the pilot, so stay tuned for more details! No budget for staging? No prob. Just raid your closet! Fantabulous segment on Good Day Sacramento! I show TV host Julissa Ortiz how to make a darling pillow case from a knit mini-skirt! Upcycling is the hottest design trend! All you need is 1 yard of sticky back velcro, a pillow insert & any old miniskirt (or poncho , for you hefty girls). (Thank you to my designer BFF Rosalia for her help. Check out her new design site Rosaliart.net)
Beyonce announced her world tour at the SuperBowl. Herman Chan announces his new web series Real Estate Real Simple for the San Francisco Chronicle...Okay, so it ain't exactly comparable, but hey, I can dream right? The series is Q&A sessions with readers from the SF Chronicle about housing and design. The webisode below is about decorating a living room with small mirrors. (I love the video introduction they made for me. Fancy!) NOTE: This post is also syndicated to Huffington Post Home.
Many of you loyal Hermanity peeps may recall an episode of Celebrity Real Estate Wrap almost one year ago when I vlogged about everyone's favorite 80's sitcom dad Alan Thicke. The Growing Pains star's mansion in LA's Toluca Lake district was having difficulty selling at $4.8M. Robin Thicke's dad experimented with making it a rental too at one point. Well, after 2 long years, it has finally sold for $3,525,000. Talk about a growing pain! If you ask me (and I know you didn't but I don't care), Alan could have fetched closer to asking price w/ some updating. Don't get me wrong because I love the '80's as much as the next gal, but that blue hot tub w/ flamingo, earth toned stone wall, the wide square kitchen counter tiles & cabinet hardware all betray a dated 1980's aesthetic beneath the updates. Nevertheless, a sale is a sale. Congrats are in order to Alan! Jason Seaver, er Alan rather, joins Jennifer Love Hewitt & Hilary Duff as celebs who have exited Toluca Lake in 2012. They leave behind neighbors Miley Cyrus, Henry Winkler & Erin Daniels. Why the mass exodus? Gotta tip? Please spill your guts. We wanna know! Eco-Friendly Home Decorating Ideas w/ Herman
