I stopped by my friend Sheila Frazier's shop called Strictly Savvy. After playing around with some of her hot new merchandise (check out those phabulous earrings!), she asked me my advice about what color to paint her store's floor. She is thinking black or grey? I'm thinking a lighter color because the space is already small. Dark colors will diminish it more. All you design freaks, help a sista out! What color will make her store pop?

Black would really look chic--a glossy black enamel (specially made for floor or porch use) would be easy to clean, too. It'd look great with the walls, but she'd probably want to use different tablecloths for her display table.

I'd go bright orange but I'm wacky that way. Depends on what she wants the effect to be. Black is always classy but it will absorb light. Gray is a nice neutral but I think a charcoal gray would retain a little more of the classiness of black.

One thing to keep in mind with black is that it actually shows scuffs and scratches and dirt more than grey. Grey would probably be really neutral and unobtrusive. But I like the color idea, could be really fun!

I like it "white" The space seems small, so with white, will look more spacious!

I definitely think something more neutral, especially since a lot of the clothes have prints and colors. Grey, or maybe a green?

The colors of the room should in some way reflect the clothes. From what I can tell they seem a bit edgy yet could be passes off as sophisticated. Black is usually seen as more edgy, Grey would be more sophisticated. It depends on what your friend wants to suggest to her customers.

a color close to dried dirt so when it's crappy out it doesn't need constant attention..

I've managed some high end retail and a black floor would be a no unless the does more lights in the ceiling. Black darkens a room and makes the rest of the colors not quite as bright. It can be done but u need lots of light,..u r selling clothes and merchandise - not a black floor. Gray also changes the mood of the shop. There are variations of the colors that could be better options. - PLEASE pick up a few color swatches AND do some color research on what improves peoples mood and allows your colors to pop. Again,...lots and lots of light. Lots. Did I say lots ?

Paint to look like a classic timeless chateau-esque wood floor? Black is too dark and shows every speck; grey is a cold, depressing color without any warmth....how many houses do you see these days with grey carpet...almost none...so I vote for tan, beige, faux wood parquet..quelque chose "naturelle". so that the clothes are the only "stars" ...

I think you should paint it the same colors and design as the shirt in the center of the photo.
